Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 11, 2026
Scallywop ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Scallywop mobile and web application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. An account is required to use the Scallywop application.
Scallywop is an organizational and informational tool that helps you keep track of legal documents, dates, deadlines, reminders, uploaded documents, and information extracted from those documents. Scallywop is not a law firm, does not provide legal representation, and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication information. If you use a supported third-party sign-in provider (such as Google, where applicable), we may receive the name and email address associated with that account.
- Information you provide. Information you voluntarily enter, such as document names, notes, tags, dates and deadlines, reminders, and vehicle details.
- Uploaded documents. Images, scans, or files you upload, such as legal documents, tickets, court notices, licenses, and incident recordings.
- Information extracted from documents. When you use our document analysis feature, information may be extracted from your uploaded documents (such as dates, amounts, and identifying details) to help you organize and track them.
- Technical information. Information reasonably necessary to operate and secure the Service, such as device identifiers, access times, and usage logs.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide and maintain the Service, including displaying your documents, reminders, and deadlines.
- To extract and organize information from your uploaded documents.
- To display reminders about upcoming dates and deadlines.
- To authenticate you and secure your account.
- To process payments for optional paid features, such as the "What do I do next?" subscription.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud and abuse.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How Information Is Processed
We use service providers necessary to operate the Service, such as cloud hosting, data storage, email delivery, and AI-powered document analysis. These providers process information on our behalf only to deliver the Service and are bound by obligations of confidentiality and security. When you use a third-party sign-in provider, that provider processes your sign-in according to its own policies.
When you use our document analysis feature, your uploaded documents are processed using AI to extract and organize information for you. Scallywop does not use your uploaded documents to train AI models.
4. How We Protect Information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. Your uploaded documents and the information extracted from them are associated with your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete your documents, reminders, notes, and associated data as described in our Delete Account & Data process. We retain certain records where required for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, or regulatory reasons, only for as long as required by applicable law.
